Une recherche expérimentale et empirique a été menée afin de transformer ce sel marin en un matériau suffisamment imperméable et soluble à la fois, afin que l’objet créé bénéficie d’une temporalité d’altération satisfaisante et puisse être utilisé pleinement. De nombreux échantillons fabriqués à partir de sel, d’argile, d’eau et de maïs ont conduit à des résultats alliant résistance au poids, à la tension et aux changements de température - tout en permettant une érosion lente et progressive au contact d’éléments extérieurs.
